In Taurin, labels help you categorize emails and contacts, but the system cares more about what a label means than what it’s called.
When a label is applied, it’s based on the label’s description, not just the name.
Here’s how to decide:
→ Just edit the label
The label name will be updated everywhere it’s already applied, including past emails and contacts
You can also tweak the description without affecting past usage logic
Example:
You rename Request → Action Needed, but it still means “someone is asking for something”
→ That’s a rename
→ Delete the old label and create a new one
Renaming Newsletter to To-do changes what kind of emails get categorized
That affects how you and the AI interpret the label going forward
In this case, it’s better to treat it as a brand-new label
Taurin does not retroactively apply the new label to older emails
The label will only be considered by the AI for future messages
If you want it on old emails, you’ll need to apply it manually
Renaming = updates everywhere (past and future)
New label = only used going forward
Meaning changed? → make a new one
Meaning stayed the same? → rename safely
